How To Make Google And Facebook Your BFF

As a business owner, the last thing you have time to sit down and worry about is Facebook marketing, SEO and Adwords. However, those three things are impacting your company and sales more than anything else. You have a great location, you have happy employees, you even have a cute little slogan that makes people laugh. You should be on top of the world but instead you get less traffic than a liquor store before noon on Sunday’s. Why is that and what can you do about it?

Facebook Marketing On A Budget

Facebook has come a long way from being just a social media platform. Make no mistake, it is still the king and nothing is going to change that any time soon. Your business page can now literally function as a website. It ranks on Google when people research your business. It can sell products, inform and introduce your brand to customers. It can even advertise to them on their phone, desktop or tablet. There really isn’t much it can’t do. That’s the good news, the bad news is that it knows that and it wants your money.

A few years ago, Facebook was very friendly to their users. If you had 1,000 followers on your page, they would all see your posts. However, FB decided to shrink its algorithm and only allow a small percentage of your followers to see what you post.

There are ways to improve that. Likes, comments and shares are natural ways of getting more views and you can boost a post or promote your page for a small budget. Depending on the topic and industry, boosting can be very successful. For example, a company that sells cute baby products is going to see a huge surge of traffic from a minimal FB advertising budget. However, a home insurance company will not see similar results and will have to up the budget to get favorable results.

Google Marketing On A Budget

SEO is still the way to go but understand it’s importance. It is meant for branding and adding traffic to your website, NOT for conversions. If you are relying on search engine optimization as the only method to make sales then you are going to be very upset at the end of the month. SEO is used to get you steady traffic from people who are interested in a service, product or even topic you cover. They will visit your website, not necessarily to make a purchase, but to gather information that they need. This is a great way to introduce yourself to them and hope they return later on.

Adwords has many uses, both for conversions and to re-introduce yourself. If someone visits your website through Google, you can set a retargeting budget that will display your ads on other sites they visit. You never noticed how the ads for your local sports team were coming up when you were reading about fixing your faucet or losing twenty pounds before Christmas? It has to do with following the cookies and getting the brand back in front of the customer.

While there are those out there who want to be into the latest thing, the fact is that Pay Per Click is still the king of conversions when it comes to advertising online. No other method gets better results and that isn’t going to change any time soon. However, if you are dealing with very expensive and competitive keywords there are some things you can do like try to focus on secondary keywords that still generate good traffic and are less expensive. When it comes to the main keywords, don’t be afraid to use a small budget. Google won’t put you at the top but they still want your money and they will get you traffic.

At the end of the day the real trick to Facebook marketing, SEO and Adwords is to just make sure you keep at it and keep producing content. Continue to post pictures and give your followers something to read and share on social media. Make sure your website is SEO friendly, write a blog and throw a little money at PPC to keep traffic coming in. You don’t have to spend a fortune to make some noise, you just have to give them both some attention and they will respond. Remember, there’s a different between good advice and good advice for you. Your business is different from others and that’s why you need a marketing strategy that is different as well. Make sure you spend your time and money in the right places for YOU.
